What We Believe

Since all we do is governed by the word of God, you will find us observing only those things contained in it. We do our best to pattern the spirit of the early church, while making our assemblies relevant and challenging to the needs of modern society. During our worship service you will find the following activities occurring each week:
Singing:
To many, our song service will be a highlight. No mechanical instruments of music are used. As Christians we are commanded to sing and make melody in our hearts (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). The songs we sing are chosen to be pleasing to God, bring glory and honor to His name and to lift our hearts and unite our spirits as a body of believers. We encourage you join us in our praise.
Teaching:
The teaching is designed to instruct and encourage you in the ways of right living. You are invited to follow in the Bible as the lessons are presented. We trust that you will leave feeling encouraged and challenged from the truth and hope outlined in scriptures.
Contribution:
A contribution is taken at the Sunday morning assembly. At this time, each gives of his financial means and as he purposed in his heart (I Corinthians 16:1-2). This offering is used to carry on the work and service of the church in this community and around the world. As a guest, please do not feel obligated to give.
The Lord's Supper:
The Lord's Supper, or communion is observed just the way it was begun the night of our Lord's betrayal. This is the time that we remember God's sacrifice for us in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. The men at the table will give thanks for the bread, break a piece from it, eat, and pass it on to another until the whole assembly has eaten (Acts 20:7). They will then take the cup, give thanks, drink, and pass the serving tray on to each Christian. Communion is the highlight of our worship and a commemorative moment of rededication to the Christian walk.
Prayer:
Public prayers offer praise and thanks to God for His blessings and request for His continued care over us.
You will Never be Embarrassed:
At most services we sing a song of invitation. Those wishing to express a spiritual need or become a Christian are invited to come forward and let their desire be known. He who believes in Christ (Hebrews 11:6), repents of his sins (Luke 13:3), confesses Christ (Romans 10:9-10), and is baptized, by virtue of his obedience, is promised remission of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and fellowship in His church (Acts 2:38). Responding publicly is voluntary on the part of the one desiring to become a Christian. Although many do, this life-changing commitment does not require an individual to respond in our public assembly. You will never be singled out for public attention or embarrassment.
You will always find a friendly welcome:
Solomon said, "He who would have friends must show himself friendly." For this reason, the people of this church family will greet you with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. Every newcomer to Nichols St. is an honored guest. We hope that you will visit us again soon. A cordial invitation is always extended and a gracious welcome always awaits!
