WOW! I got a letter from a student I had TOTALLY given up on & had quit writing to!
He was a really tough gangster. He scared me a lot of the time with the things he would talk about. The people he supposedly killed. But I kept sending him Christian material. Finally I just decided he was never going to change, that he was too far into the gang scene and liked it.
I stopped writing entirely. I got a letter or two but never answered them.
Then the other day I got a letter and decided to just open it to see what he had to say. It was like it had been written by someone completely different! I just got goosebumps reading it. He said he was tired of living the way he had been. He said after I quit writing he started reading the Bible. He said he saw that it was the only way he could have peace & joy in his heart. That it calmed his soul. I just cried.
God had watered that seed I had planted. I gave up, but God kept working. He asked to do a Bible Study. He wants to talk about Jesus. He says he is for real. I believe it. It's day & night difference.
I ask you to pray for him. His name is Perry Haynes. His life is in danger from his ex-brothers in the gang. These gangs don't let their members go too easily. Pray for his safety & that he will be baptized before something happens to him in there.
